There are so many things in Shreveport that contribute to a wonderful quality of life that we're able to enjoy here.  I've been talking about this a long time. (And will continue to do so) Yes, I know there are things we can, and do, complain about.  But we can also take the time to extoll the virtues of our community when they deserve it.

Of course there are the larger things like The Red River Revel, PrizeFest, all the festivals we love, Mardi Gras in the Arklatex, and The Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl, but there are a LOT of smaller things that happen throughout the year that, I think, we might take for granted.

We have a vibrant and very talented arts community in Shreveport-Bossier with several theatre groups, art galleries, an amazing symphony, opera, and events that, if you don't take advantage of, you are completely missing out on some gems we have right here.  One of those events is called ArtWalk, and it's about to kick-off for 2023 in downtown Shreveport.

The Downtown Shreveport Artwalk returns on Wednesday, April 5, 5-8 pm. This month, you can stroll Texas Street with stops at galleries, restaurants, retail shops and businesses to see art and meet the artists, to enjoy food and beverage specials, to listen to street performers and relax to live music.

ArtWalk, sponsored by the Downtown Development Authority, will be held throughout the summer, and gives you the opportunity to experience various stops all featuring artist displays, food vendors, and the chance to go in buildings you might not normally get to see... all within walking distance downtown.  And if you miss it, just please don't say, "There's nothing to do here."
