Shreveport State Representative Thomas Carmody won't revisit his proposed bill to let let communities vote on Confederate monuments. Carmody's bill passed on the house side last year, but did not make it out of a senate committee.

Now, Carmody says there would be no point in bringing the bill back as statues are being taken down all over the South:

Four Confederate monuments were removed in New Orleans last April and May. There are Confederate monuments located in Shreveport, Lafayette, Alexandria and Tallulah, but there are no plans to take them down. The Caddo Commission has yet to act on the future of the monument in front of the Courthouse.
