I’m just going to come out and say it, one of my all-time favorite comedians is Louisiana Senator John Kennedy.

Yes, I know the man is technically a public servant, but let’s be real, his true talent lies in being an absolute comedic genius. For months now, my TikTok feed has been flooded with fan-made videos highlighting his epic hilarity, and it is easily some of the most entertaining content on the internet.

Senator Kennedy has had a long career in Louisiana politics, serving as State Treasurer from 2000 to 2017 before being elected to the U.S. Senate in 2016. But he just captured a whole new generation of followers thanks to a campaign commercial that went completely viral.

I won't lie to you, the first time I saw a clip of this ad pop up on my phone, I thought it was a deepfake.

I thought there was no way a sitting U.S. Senator actually said that. But oh, he did. While giving a speech about his strong opposition to defunding the police, Kennedy looked dead into the camera and delivered a line for the history books:
