Rotary Club Awards Local Scholarships

During this uncertain time when it comes to finances as well as education, the Rotary Club of Shreveport has awarded six local scholarships.

I can't imagine what's going through student's minds right now. Will I be in a lecture hall come fall or will I still be taking classes remotely? Either way, any help when it comes to paying for your higher education is a big deal and it certainly seems like a nod to a return to normalcy.

For at least the last 36 years, the Rotary Club of Shreveport has given scholarships to local students according to their press release. When they started, the awards were initially $350, but those scholarships have now grown to $2,000 each. Three students from each of the six local institutions of higher education are selected to apply via that school's financial aid office. The applications are then reviewed by the Rotary Club of Shreveport's Scholarship Committee. Students must be in the top 15% of their class, demonstrate a genuine financial need, and emulate the Rotary Club's mantra of 'Service Above Self' to qualify.

Laura Elizabeth Frazier - Centenary College of Louisiana
Alaina Claire Lofaso - LSUHSC-Shreveport Medical Laboratory Sciences
Hannah Melane Dyer - LSU Shreveport
Rayna L. Brantley - NSULA College of Nursing and School of Allied Health
Shatoya C. Jackson - Southern University at Shreveport, LA
