This week, we have something that we don't get very often. It's a Two-Fer with the Kiss Country Caught in the Act Award! Though we only got to talk to one of the recipients, Renee Moncla, we were told by Renee's daughter, Tiffany Thompson, that her Aunt Patti Whittington, is equally responsible for all these great deeds.

And when we say "great deeds", just look at what these two ladies do in our community every month!

This letter is about my mother, Renee Moncla and my Aunt Patti Whittington. Every month, sometimes twice a month, they cook for the homeless and deliver food, hygiene supplies, blankets and more. They walk the streets of downtown Shreveport looking for people in need of these items. They dress up for each holiday and go in character delivering cheer and items needed putting smiles on faces of people who have forgotten to smile. They take my son, my cousins, and nieces with them teaching them to give back to those in need. They’ve done this for years out of their own pockets spending the entire weekend preparing homemade meals and putting together bags filled with things people will need. Last fall, the word about their efforts got out around their jobs and they started receiving donations to add to their giving. Then, in November, they were passing out Thanksgiving dinners and someone donated turkeys for them to cook Christmas dinners. Neither of them have ever wanted anyone to know what they do because they do it out of their hearts; not for recognition. Those two women are angels in disguise and I mean that literally because you will often find my mom in a Easter bunny costume, dressed as a Turkey and most recently the Grinch to give them a good laugh. They’ve built relationships with the people they feed, find some of their needs and meet them. I couldn’t asked to blessed with better women in my life and role models for our kids! These two deserve the world and I wish I could give it to them!

Renee Moncla and Patti Whittington, thank you for being an inspiration to us all and a big reason why this is the greatest place in America to live!

And because you've been "Caught in the Act" the gang at Silver Star have a $100 Gift Certificate for you to come have dinner on them!

Take a listen to the phone call we made to Renee to let her know that they were this week's Caught In The Act Award recipients.
