Popular Bossier City Road Will Be Traffic Nightmare Sunday
If your normal Sunday travels have you on Benton Road in Bossier City anywhere near its intersection with Shed Road, you are definitely going to want to rethink your route for this week.
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development has just issued a notice for all motorists that this Sunday, August 27, LA 3 (Benton Road) at the Canadian Pacific Kansas City Railroad crossing immediately north of Shed Road in Bossier City will be closed.
Obviously, Benton Road, and especially near its intersection with Shed Road is one of the heaviest travelled roads in Bossier City, so the congestion from this closure will affect north and south travel to and from I-20 and I-220 and easterly and westerly travel from Shed Road.
According to the DOTD, the closure is scheduled to take place from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm and is necessary to allow DOTD crews to perform roadway maintenance at this location.
The DOTD also advises that this will be a total road closure at the specified location. All vehicles, both northbound and southbound, will need to detour. Detour signage will be in place.
This work will be performed weather permitting, so in the event of inclement weather, expect possible delays or postponements of the project.
And as with all DOTD projects, the DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
