This Friday, October 12th, the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 39 and Local Union 645 will be hosting a hamburger cookout from 11 am to 1 pm. The event will be set right in front of the Bossier City Police Department and Fire Department complex which is located at 620 Benton Road in Bossier City.

The cookout is to help raise money for Officer George Fanning's son. His son was diagnosed with an aggressive form of bone cancer. He is currently going through chemotherapy in Baton Rouge.

This is a great opportunity to support your community. Cancer is hard. Just a few years ago my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer, and the amount of support that our family received was amazing. It is scary going through something like this, but knowing that you are surrounded by people who care really helps. She is now cancer free.

The funds that are raised from the burger cookout will go towards medical bills in hopes to offset expenses. They will be accepting donations in exchange for burger plates.
