North Texas Native LeAnn Rimes Says First Two Months of Marriage ‘Emotionally Challenging’

It has been two months since LeAnn Rimes wed her actor beau Eddie Cibrian in a private surprise ceremony in Malibu, Calif. The 28-year-old singer has now added step-mom to her ongoing list of titles, which include songwriter, actress, and her favorite of all, wife.

“I love that role more than anything in this world,” Rimes wrote in her latest blog on her website.

But Rimes also is quick to point out that it hasn’t been all bliss since the April 22 nuptials. “These first two months of marriage have not gone without its share of challenges though,” she reveals. “We got married on a Friday and by the following Tuesday, I was buried in a film in Canada. My focus had to be on my work, and his was on the boys at home and the possibility of his new show ‘The Playboy Club.’”

She adds, “Even though he came to visit me on the weekends and I went home on the weekends when we had the boys, it was far from a ‘honeymoon.’ It was emotionally challenging for both of us to be away from each other as we had just become husband and wife. After finishing a three-and-a-half-week long shoot in Canada, we did get to take a wonderful honeymoon to Cabo! It was pure heaven!”

“It’s been quite overwhelming, but as a team, we are tackling it together,” Rimes continues. “Needless to say, it’s been a challenging first two months of marriage. I’m so proud of us and other couples who tackle life’s obstacles together as one. It makes you stronger as a couple. The communication skills we have developed in the past few months and the solid foundation we are laying down in our marriage is a fascinating process and a revelation.”

As Rimes continues to balance career and life at home with her new family, she knows that any of life’s challenges that are thrown their way can be faced as a team — as long as they remember to love and respect each other. “We have two loving, dedicated hearts, committed to celebrating each other’s successes and making the challenges work, no matter what,” Rimes writes. “I think that’s what marriage is all about … support, understanding, respect, compromise and most of all love and laughter!”
