If you have a tradition of hunting over Thanksgiving weekend in Louisiana, this might be the year you have to come up with a new tradition.  According to the Ark-La-Tex Homepage, the Fort Polk-Vernon and Peason Ridge Wildlife Management Areas will be closed to hunting from Nov. 29 through Dec. 1.

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) isn't closing up shop on these wildly popular hunting spots over the holiday weekend to give the wildlife time to enjoy a meal with their families.  This time, the LDWF is following Uncle Sam's orders to make sure the area is clear of civilians due to planned U.S. Army training exercises there.

If you just had your heart set on stalking a monster deer this Thanksgiving, the LDWF wants you to know that Kisatchie National Forest and three other wildlife management areas in the region will be open to hunters.
