No Injuries Reported From Car Crash Involving Caddo Deputy
In a detailed report from Caddo Parish Sheriff Steve Prator, we learn that one of his own deputies was cited for an infraction causing an accident mid-morning Saturday in the North Shreveport area.
For those involved in the massive traffic jam Saturday morning who might have been wondering the cause, the Sheriff's Office was immediately forthcoming with all the details.
From what we have learned, Sergeant Andy Scoggins was traveling on LA Highway 1 at approximately 10:00 am Saturday morning when he attempted to turn onto LA Highway 538.
It's reported that Sergeant Scoggins attempted the turn while the traffic signal showed a flashing yellow arrow. When the Sergeant made the turn, he pulled in front of an oncoming SUV.
The SUV struck the rear passenger side of Sergeant Scoggins' patrol unit which caused him to spin and hit another vehicle which was stopped at the traffic signal.
While it was obvious this was just an accident with no malice involved, Sergeant Scoggins was issued a citation for failure to yield while turning left.
No injuries were reported at the scene of the accident.
