We've got the Shreveport Farmers' Market, the Benton Market, the South Highland Summer Market at Mall St. Vincent -- now there's a new market coming to Pierre Bossier Mall.

The Bossier City Farmers' market's grand opening is set for August 1 in the south parking lot of the mall.

"Bossier's booming," said market co-owner Jacob Guerra in a news release. "We have farmers with vegetables they want to sell year-round. There's a void for that in this area."

The market will be open from 9AM to 3PM every Saturday from August 1 through December 19. Next year's dates will be April 2 through December 17. The market is open to the public and will feature children's activities, including face-painting, games and inflatable bounce houses.

"We are creating an established location with established vendors for a year-round venue," Guerra said.

There's space for up to 200 vendors, with more than 60 already signed up, including 10 food trucks with cuisine from German and Mexican to Louisiana home cooking and homemade ice cream.

Local artists will be featured, too, with items like stained glass, jewelry, leather and multimedia creations.

"We want to reach out to artists and have more participate," said co-owner Scott Graham. "A lot of small businesses in this community have made their start at the Farmers' Market."
