Candace Gill has been arrested by Monroe Police and booked into the Ouachita Parish Correctional Center on numerous charges including two counts of manslaughter and several counts of negligent injuring.

The charges are the result of a fatal accident that claimed the lives of an adult and an infant. Though unnamed, the adult victim is believed to be Gill's boyfriend; the other was Gill's own five week old child.

It All Began With The Report Of A Theft At Walmart

On Monday, May 9, Monroe Police Sergeant Mike Fendall says that officers responding  to a theft at a Monroe Walmart had to quickly shift gears as the theft soon morphed into a high speed chase.

The chase ultimately ended in an awful car crash, and when Monroe Police Officers arrived on scene, they immediately discovered one passenger critically injured and according to Sgt. Fendall, “The suspect, Candace Gill, she was at the scene also getting out of the vehicle, attending to the five-week-old child, who was severely injured as well, the child later passed away at the hospital."

Fendall says that while police were busily aiding the injured, Gill left the scene on foot,  abandoning her child in the process. Police were unable to readily establish her whereabouts.

The Ironic Twist: It's Alleged The Items Stolen From Walmart Were For The Child

After Monroe Police received a tip on Tuesday, May 10, they were able to locate and arrest Gill without incident.

We've received no details on any bond related issues at this time.
