Mansfield Traffic Will Get Extra Nasty For Four Full Days
Those who regularly use Highway 84 through the downtown Mansfield area will soon have to figure out a different route as the busy highway will soon be closed.
According to a notice from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, we see that motorists are being advised that beginning this Friday, December 13, at 6:00 pm, US 84 (Polk Street) at the Canadian Pacific Kansas City railroad crossing in the City of Mansfield will be closed.
This road closure is scheduled to be in place until Tuesday, December 17, approximately 5:00 pm, and is necessary to allow the railroad company to replace two of the crossings at this location.
This crossing is located 0.22 miles west of the intersection with LA 175 (Lake Road). Detour signage will be in place for those unfamiliar with routes around this crossing.
Of course, this work will be performed weather permitting, so inclement weather could postpone, extend or alter days/hours of the scheduled project.
DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Remember to leave plenty of room between you and the vehicle in front of you.
Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
