Former Shreveport Lawyer to Hear Lawsuits Against LSU

Legal maneuvering continues in the battle facing LSU. WBRZ TV reports all of the federal judges in the Baton Rouge area have recused themselves from getting involved in hearing lawsuits against the University.

These cases deal with the University's handing of Title IX cases.

But New Orleans federal district judge, Susie Morgan has been appointed to hear the cases. Morgan spent more than 20 years as a law partner in the local firm, Wiener, Weiss & Madison in Shreveport before she was appointed to the federal bench by President Obama in 2012. She got her Masters Degree from LSU and also graduated law school at LSU.

The two suits currently pending against LSU include a class action suit filed by several current and former students who claim the university did not properly handle Title IX complaints. The other suit was filed by LSU Associate Athletic Director of Football Recruiting and Alumni Relations Sharon Lewis. She alleges retaliation once she informed her superiors of allegations against former coach Les Miles.
