For those of us who remember two-a-day practices, salt tablets, and your coach slapping your helmet right on the earhole, (how did he know just how to hit it every time?), prepare to be really envious.  LSU is partnering with a Louisiana-based company to retrofit those beautiful bright yellow helmets with... air conditioning.

I've heard that the character costumes at Disneyland have air conditioning in those big heads... so Mickey Mouse got nuthin' on LSU.  The company, called Tigeraire, developed the technology that allows football helmets to be retrofitted with air conditioning.

The Tigeraire product that LSU plans to use is called the Cyclone 2, and according to the Tigeraire website:

Lightweight and powerful, the Cyclone v2 is designed to fit inside your football helmet and accelerate air over your entire face. Powered by built-in, rechargeable, LiPo batteries that can run nonstop for over 300 minutes on a single charge, the Cyclone v2 fits snugly in any compatible football helmet and is safe for all ages.  Please refer to the FAQs for a list of compatible football helmets.

The company sells the product to teams, like LSU, or also sells the units individually.  They also make equipment to fit inside hard-hats for those who work outside or on hot job-sites.

The Tigers are entering their second season under head coach Brian Kelly with high expectations.  Especially after an impressive season in his first year, when he led LSU to a 63-7 win over Purdue in the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl last January.  And, not that there is any pressure... but the LSU Lady Tigers basketball team won a national championship in Head Coach Kim Mulkey's second year.  And LSU Men's Baseball just won a National Championship after Head Coach Jay Johnson's second year.  Did I say this is Brian Kelly's second year?

Players Born In The Shreveport Area Picked In The NFL Draft

These players were born in the Shreveport area, but did not necessarily play high school or college football in the area. This also doesn't include players born in another area, who moved to Shreveport later in life (Dak Prescott, Trent Taylor)
