The idea behind any shelter is to get dogs and cats off the streets and to find them a new home, but many animals in Bossier may not get that chance due to a shortage of money.

The city will not pick up the tab for any treatment of strays beyond spaying and neutering and volunteer groups like Friends of Bossier City Animal Control are unable to cover simple treatments for a lot of pets due to a lack of funding.

They say the average treatment for most strays is between 150-300 dollars but they need more donations to keep animals from being put down.

FBCAC says it boils down to getting help from the community. Without the donations, they get euthanized.
