The movement is called "Banning The Box" taking away the part of the application where it asks if you've been to jail or not. We've all seen it on Job Applications but soon in Louisiana you'll no longer see it on College Applications. The Governor signed the bill last Friday but colleges will still be allowed to ask about criminal history during the process of financial aid and campus housing.

Inside Higher Ed reports that a similar bill failed last month in Maryland but previously passed in New York. Those against the bill site safety issues as their biggest objection. Sexual violence or stalking convictions are not included in the "Ban The Box" movement and colleges will still be able to ask about those.

What do you think about "Banning The Box" is this a great way to help ex cons reintegrate back into society or are you concerned about possible safety issues?
