
11 Worst Speed Traps in Louisiana: Where to Slow Down in 2026
Louisiana drivers who regularly travel outside the twenty mile radius immediately surrounding their home all seem to have the same sentiment.

There are certain towns or specific stretches of public roads where drivers better not speed. Unless you're in the mood for a speeding violation, it's better to slow well below the posted speed limit or avoid these areas entirely.
When we took to social media to ask about these little-known "speed traps" certain areas kept popping up.
First off, I need to thank everyone who gladly offered their opinion and personal experiences, and secondly, we should all heed the warnings of these other drivers and ease off the accelerator anytime we approach one of these areas.

We've conducted this same informal poll over the last few years and though a few traps have appeared again, we have a number of new entries, so pay close attention as you examine the Top 11.
These are in no particular order but each received more mentions than the many other nominations we got.
What's crazy is that the city that got the most mentions in this poll is the same city receiving the most mentions in 2025 and 2024 and truth be told, I personally got my last speeding ticket there in 2012 when I was doing a blistering 47 in a 45 speed zone. I know, I'm a menace to society.
