Louisiana Man Accidentally Stabbed When Hugging His Friend
Most everyone has heard of accidental shootings, but this might be the first case in Louisiana history where we've had an accidental stabbing involving someone other than yourself.
It all started with a simple hug. Well, not a "simple" hug but you get the implication. When real guy friends hug, it's almost violent. Full brother love complete with the near obligatory "I love you man!"
However, a couple of men in Baton Rouge might have taught all men a slight new rule when it comes to the "Guy Hug."
And here's that new rule: MAKE SURE YOUR BUDDY IS NOT SHOWING OTHER PEOPLE HIS NEW KNIFE BEFORE YOU RUSH IN TO HUG HIM.
TheAdvocate.com explains why that new rule just became necessary.
Apparently, this past Thursday night/Friday morning about 1:30 am, 34-year-old Joshua Bean was just outside The Bulldog bar on Perkins Road in Baton Rouge, standing in the middle of a bunch of his friends showing them his new knife.
Not knowing what was going on at the time, another friend of Joshua's ran up to give Joshua a big hug and the situation turned into an accidental stabbing that gave the victim serious injuries, but it is believed they aren't life threatening.
And even though Bean obviously didn't intend to injure the victim and rendered aid for his friend until paramedics arrived on the scene, he was still booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on charges of negligent injuring.
Louisiana law states that this regarding penalty for negligent injuring: Whoever commits the crime of negligent injuring shall be fined not more than five hundred dollars, or imprisoned for not more than six months, or both.
