Benton High School will be represented at the 2014 National High School Finals Rodeo as brothers, Peyton and Tanner (Rooster) Leflett will make the trip to Rock Springs, Wyoming for competition in the team roping division July 13-19.

After competing in 16 high School rodeos all over Louisiana, Peyton, a senior, and brother Tanner, a sophomore, won the first round in the Louisiana High School State Rodeo Finals in Team Roping in Lake Charles with a time of 6.17.

They also won the second round with a time of 7.78. They had a little trouble in the finals and slipped a leg so 5 seconds was added to their time so they finished with 12.22 and this knocked them out of first place but they still managed to finish second in state which qualified them for July's National High School Rodeo Finals.

Featuring more than 1,500 contestants from 42 states, five Canadian Provinces and Australia, the NHSFR is the world's largest rodeo.

Of course, these boys are no strangers to the national stage having finished 8th in the nation last year.

Good luck guys!
