If LSU fans look at themselves in the mirror and answer honestly, they can't possibly say they were surprised at Tuesday's announcement of new - and markedly more strict - restrictions for all of Tiger Nation planning on attending a home game in Baton Rouge.

The LSU Athletic department has let it be known that for all LSU home games this season, beginning with the opener against McNeese State on September 11, a proof of COVID vaccination or a negative test not older than 72 hours will be required.

More rules details from LSU Sports:

To gain entry into Tiger Stadium, guests 12 and older must show proof of at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine that has received full approval or emergency use authorization from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration or the World Health Organization. A vaccination card, a photo or photocopy of a vaccination card, or verified digital proof of vaccination, including LA Wallet or another government-sanctioned mobile app, will be accepted, with entry granted upon visual inspection.

The changes in the Tiger Stadium policy have been put in place with the approval of Governor John Bel Edwards, LSU President William F. Tate, LSU’s Board of Supervisors, the Tiger Athletic Foundation, and Athletics Director Scott Woodward.

But what about Tigers fans who are yet to be vaxxed - or have no plan to do so?

Those who have not yet received a dose of a COVID-19 vaccine must present digital or hard copy proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 72 hours of kickoff prior to entering the stadium. Guests younger than 12 will not need to present a negative test; masks will be encouraged for children younger than 5 and required for children ages 5 to 11 years old.

In the meantime, LSU season ticket holders or those who have tickets for individual home games and want to inquire about refunds must contact the the athletic department at tickets@lsu.edu by August 27.
