The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LADOTD) will host a public information meeting to discuss proposed corridor improvements along U.S. 79/80 in Haughton. The meeting will be Tuesday, June 18, from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Eastwood Baptist Church, 2810 U.S. 80 in Haughton.

According to the DOTD,  representatives will be present to provide information and answer questions about proposed corridor improvements which would re-design approximately .5 miles of U.S. 79/80 to improve safety and help traffic flow.

The meeting will allow the public to learn more about the improvement project and sign-up to receive future e-mail updates about the project.

Speculation from a business manager in the affected area is that the DOTD is proposing the removal of the "turn arounds" out of the medians heading eastward from Brookshires and replacing those with "J-Turns" which could cause complications to residents of Country Place, Tall Timbers and eventually Forest Hills.

If indeed, the information we've received is correct, it's highly suggested that residents of these neighborhoods and business owners in the proposed construction area, should be present and voice their opinions.
