Last Friday night, February 3rd, at approximately 10:51P, Shreveport police responded to a domestic disturbance call to the Villa Norte Apartment Complex, located in the 1600 block of Fullerton Street in north Shreveport.

As Shreveport police officers made contact with the complaintant, Alonzo Bagley, 43 years old, made his way out of the apartment to a balcony in the back, jumped to the ground, and fled on foot.

Following a short foot pursuit, SPD officer Alexander Tyler located Mr. Bagley as he came around a corner and fired one shot from his service weapon, striking Mr. Bagley in the chest. The responding officers immediately began rendering first aid to Mr. Bagley, who was then transferred to Ochsner LSU Health, where he later died.

The Louisiana State Police is the lead investigating agency into the officer involved shooting.  The scene was processed by Louisiana State Police Crime Lab Technicians, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Louisiana State Police Colonel Lamar Davis reminds the public that a thorough investigation takes time, witness statements are still being obtained, evidence is being gathered and is currently being analyzed. Officials have asked the public to remain patient as in investigation continues.

Davis said at the appropriate time, further information will be released in coordination with the Caddo Parish District Attorney's office.  As the investigation progresses, the coordination and partnership between law enforcement and the Shreveport community is vital to obtaining a full understanding of the events that led to the shooting.
