Did you know that the Krewe of Gemini is the oldest parading Krewe in Northwest Louisiana? It all started back in 1989 and 1990, and as the Krewe tells the story, it goes something like this:

"Early in 1989, Chamber of Commerce President Bob Taylor turned to Cary Petty, Vice President of Business Development, and said, “Cary, Bossier needs a festival or event that it can get behind in a big way.” Needless to say, Bob did not realize how seriously Cary took him."

From there, a Mardi Gras Bal was planned for February of 1990, and a parade the following week. Then on February 24th, 1990, floats rolled in the streets of Shreveport-Bossier. From there, the Krewe of Gemini has continued to grow their events into some of the premiere events in the Ark-La-Tex. Which includes their float loading party.

This year's Krewe of Gemini Float Loading Party will be Friday, February 17th at their Mardi Gras Meseum/Den in Bossier City. The Krewe royalty and Grand Marshal will be on hand for the big party. Which will include food trucks, specialty beads, floats, and more. You can get more details here.

At their Float Loading Party, you can meet Gemini XXXIV Grand Marshall, Miss Louisiana Volunteer and New Orleans Saints Cheerleader, Jordan Green.

Of course, the day after their float loading, the Krewe of Gemini will roll through Shreveport. Their parade will follow Shreveport's traditional Mardi Gras route, down the Clyde Fant Parkway, through Shrevecity, and onto Kings. You can get details on the parade here.
