Keith Urban, Thomas Rhett Joining ‘The Voice’ as Season 15 Advisors
Two more country singers are joining NBC's The Voice in important roles next season. Keith Urban and Thomas Rhett will serve as advisors during the Battle Rounds after the show begins in September.
Urban is set to join Blake Shelton's team, while Rhett has been asked to mentor Kelly Clarkson's team. It's the "Life Changes" singer's first time coaching or advising or judging a major television reality competition. Urban served as a judge on American Idol for the show's final four seasons on Fox.
Halsey (Team Jennifer Hudson) and CeeLo Green (Team Adam Levine) are the other two advisors for Season 15. Green was an original coach on The Voice, serving Seasons 1-3 and 5. The news of the four advisors was split across four different news outlets, with Access Online getting the scoop on the Shelton and Urban pairing and E! Online getting rights to the Clarkson and Rhett combo share.
This makes the second straight year Shelton and Clarkson have borrowed their advisors from country music. Cassadee Pope did the job for Clarkson last season, while Trace Adkins helped his old friend Shelton. Clarkson's team won when Brynn Cartelli earned America's vote. She and Shelton battled vigorously and vocally throughout the duration of the season, her first on the show compared to Shelton's 14th.
Urban is currently on tour with Kelsea Ballerini while Rhett is currently on the road with Kenny Chesney.
Season 15 of The Voice begins on Sept. 24.
