Josh Turner Honored With Special Plaque on ‘Good Morning America’
Josh Turner stopped by ABC’s ‘Good Morning America’ studios yesterday (July 11) as part of a media blitz in promotion of his latest album, ‘Punching Bag,’ which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Country Albums chart last month.
There, Turner performed ‘Time is Love,’ the collection’s first radio offering and the singer’s current Top 15 single. ‘GMA’ co-hosts Robin Roberts and Josh Elliott were also on-hand to surprise Turner with a special gift — a plaque commemorating 12 million until sold since first signing with MCA Nashville more than a decade ago.
“I’ve learned to trust God in ways that I’ve never considered,” Turner tells Taste of Country regarding the sonic direction of his latest album. “Because I believe that God is in control of everything so even if he asks me to go against the grain on something I do it and don’t question it really. He will always make a way and He always has my best interests at heart.”
Turner also mentioned that the title-track came about as a result of one bad day in the industry. The singer acknowledges his isn’t always a ‘Punching Bag,’ but the feeling can be common for anyone who works in entertainment.
