"Are you ready to rock?" That's the first thing Jerrod Niemann, the headliner for Saturday night's Miller Light Kiss Country Fest presented by MetroPCS, said to us this morning.

Niemann was gracious enough to spend quite a bit of his time taking with us about his May 10 Shreveport show and more.

The “Lover, Lover” singer confessed that when it comes to his upcoming wedding, he’s leaving it to his fiancé for the planning. But there was one point in the process where Jerrod put his foot down.

Niemann revealed he had overheard plans to have a juggler at the wedding.

"I prefer it to be a wedding, not a parade," he said.

The Kansas-born singer knows a lot about Kiss County and the heritage of country music. He even explained how the Louisiana Hayride was inspiration for his song "Donkey."

"Country music goes back way to the days of The Louisiana Hayride, and so I just pictured there were a lot of cool Cadillacs back then," Niemann said, adding: "but I wondered if those Cadillacs ever broke down and if they had to ride a donkey to the Reo [Palm Isle] or the Louisiana Hayride."

With high school graduation at the end of the month and kids heading off the college in the fall, we wanted to know if Jerrod had a "Plan B” when he was that age just in case that whole big country music star thing didn’t work out.

Niemann confessed he "foolishly" didn’t, but thanks to his father's roofing company in Ft. Worth he said he never really worried about his future. Imagine: Jerrod Niemann the Roofer.

Before we wrapped up with Jerrod, we got him to sing part of his no. 1 song “Drink to That All Night” a cappella -- or “Acapulco” as Niemann calls it. You can hear that about 5:30 into the conversation.

Finally, he revealed the surprise he has in store for his buddy Josh Thompson when they play Shreveport's Festival Plaza Saturday night.

If you don’t have them already, there's a few more chances to win tickets to Kiss Country Fest, or you can purchase them below.
