Update: Duck Dynasty Star’s Health Setback Revealed
It wasn't that long ago that all of us were connected to the fast-paced whirlwind world of life in North Louisiana via the stars of TV's Duck Dynasty. Okay, life in Monroe, West Monroe, Ruston, and the surrounding area along I-20 might not be considered fast-paced by some, but for us, it was certainly a lot of fun watching members of the Robertson clan deal with it.
I know as a fan of the show I am excited, guardedly excited, for the upcoming reboot of the Duck Dynasty brand. I know we'll have many of the same cast of characters but it won't be quite the same. If you weren't aware, there was a big retirement at Duck Commander a few weeks ago. Uncle Si hurt himself while hunting. And, the patriarch of the family Phil Robertson has faced and is facing medical maladies that would encourage all of us to offer a prayer for his comfort.
You might have heard that Phil is dealing with symptoms related to dementia. That in itself is a mighty burden for a family to carry. However, it was recently revealed that Phil has suffered another medical setback, this one is more of a physical setback than a mental setback.
It was during a recent episode of the Unashamed Podcast that Jase Robertson revealed the physical issue that Phill is now facing.
If you can't spend a few minutes with the podcast, here is what Jase explained about Phil's health in a nutshell. You might recall the elder Robertson underwent back surgery in 2023. The surgery was to repair an injury that resulted in several broken vertebrae.
On the Unashamed Podcast with the Robertson Family Jase revealed that Phil had actually broken more vertebrae than previously thought. That would bring the total number of broken bones in the back to at least eight.
In the context of the podcast Jase also made the statement, "He has these conditions that, they do not seem like he’s getting better". No, that is not the kind of news any of us wanted to hear but I appreciate Jase updating us all on Phil's condition. Let us hope the doctors can provide him with the treatment and comfort he needs.
Meanwhile, we do have this update on Uncle Si's condition following a hunting accident. That accident sent Silas, that's his given name, to the hospital for several days for treatment following a nasty fall. Doctors were concerned most about Si's oxygen level and his complaints of extreme pain but it does appear as though he is now on the mend and improving.
The Ducky Dynasty reboot, officially titled Duck Dynasty: The Revival is slated to premiere on the A&E Network later this year. The projected premiere is the summer of 2025.
