Keith Urban Wants You to Know One Important Thing About Lainey Wilson [Exclusive]
It's been almost four years since Keith Urban blessed us with a new studio album, but that will change with the release of High on Sept. 20.
We already know a few things Urban has up his sleeve with new music, including a song called "Wildside." There's also his current radio single, "Messed Up as Me," a song called "Straight Line," and a duet with Lainey Wilson called "Go Home W U."
During a recent stop by the Taste of Country Nights studio, Urban sat down with host Evan Paul, who asked him about working with Wilson on this project.
Urban couldn't stop spewing love with a big smile on his face.
"She's the real deal," he insists of Wilson, "I just wanna collab with people that are legit, whether it's Eric Church, Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood, doesn't matter who it is, just real-deal people."
"Lainey's that for sure," Urban says.
Listen to Keith Urban and Lainey Wilson's "Go Home W U":
The former American Idol judge really couldn't stop gushing over the reigning CMA and ACM Entertainer of the Year.
"A few years ago I heard her voice, and I just loved her voice and wanted to find something we could do," he recalls. "I actually thought we might write a song at some point. 'Go Home W U' was sitting around and it wasn't a duet, but turned out to be a great duet."
"I sent it to Lainey, she loved it," he says, telling the story of how he showed the song to Wilson. "Killed the second verse. When I heard her sing it, I loved her voice so much on the track that we wrote a bridge on the song that wasn't in it originally, just so I could hear more of Lainey."
As Urban gears up for what's sure to be a busy fall with the release of High, fans will be on edge hoping he'll dish more sneaks.
Evan Paul is the host of Taste of Country Nights, a syndicated radio show heard on more than 130 country radio stations nationwide, every night from 7PM to midnight.
