Shreveport has a storied history with pro wrestling, but late last year, WWE made an announcement that raises questions about whether the wrestling mega-company will ever run a show in town again.

No More House Shows?

In September of 2024 Mark Shapiro, president of TKO (the company that owns WWE and UFC), announced that the company is cutting back on its untelevised events going into 2025. This should be a red flag for pro-wrestling fans in Shreveport, as the Shreveport area has only seen untelevised WWE events since the last WWE Smackdown show in 2012.

WWE's bread and butter are its weekly TV shows, such as Monday Night Raw and SmackDown, but of course, not every match or show makes it to television. Shreveport, and Bossier City, saw the first televised event all the way back in 1983 with Mid South Wrestling, but WWE has only run televised shows in the area a handful of times.

WWE in recent years has run only untelevised live events, known to wrestling fans as "House" shows because the only people who get to see the show are the people in the arena or 'house'. WWE's last TV show in Shreveport wasn't even in Shreveport, it was the November 27th, 2012 edition of SmackDown that was broadcast live from the then CenturyLink Center in Bossier City.

Since that episode of SmackDown, there have been about 9 WWE live events in the area, one every year except for 2019 (surprising that they got a show in 2020 right before the lockdown).

With TKO's intent to cut back on WWE's live show schedule there's a chance Shreveport might not see another WWE pro-wrestling show for a long time.
