Whataburger Offers Shreveport Treat for National Drive-Thru Day
Another one of those days of celebration for something that isn't a holiday is just around the corner, and this one celebrates an American tradition we love here in Shreveport. National Drive-Thru Day is Thursday, July 24th, and one of our favorite burger chains in Louisiana is celebrating with an awesome collectible.
Louisiana Whataburger Fans: Don't Miss These Exclusive Stickers
Whataburger is offering customers a limited Whataburger Loves Louisiana sticker giveaway. Any order made using the Whataburger drive-thru at participating Louisiana locations will get a free sticker along with their order. Though the stickers will be truly limited as they'll only be available on Drive-Thru Day from 5 am to 10 am, unless they run out before 10 am.
If you weren't already in the loop, Whataburger has created a collectors following. Think about the people who collect Starbucks cups, and then replace the green logos for the orange and white stripes of the 24/7 southern classic. Maybe we'll see some collectors camping outside the Whataburger drive-thru overnight just to get the stickers first.
Whataburger Stands Alone: The History of Drive-Thrus
It seems that Whataburger is the only chain restaurant taking part in Drive-Thru day this year. We couldn't find any other offers from other fast food restaurants. Setting themselves up as a trendsetter, maybe next year's Drive-Thru day will have more and more restaurants joining in on the celebration.

Drive-Thrus are an incredible innovation of the American food industry, and started almost 100 years ago. According to some the very first drive-in restuarant was a place called the "Pig Stand" in Texas, opened in 1921. The Pig Stand wouldn't actually be the first drive-thru because customers were served their food in their car while parked.
The first drive-thru as we know it today was opened in 1947 at Red's Giant Hamburg in Missouri, then In-N-Out Burger did the same in 1948 but with the addition of a two-way speaker.
