Louisiana Among Hardest Places To Find Work, New Study Finds
Over the last few years, the economy has struggled, with 36% of Americans agreeing that the nation's economy is in poor condition. Finding work is the first step to economic freedom, but in Louisiana, that's easier said than done.

Ranking among states with the lowest median annual income, Louisiana ranked as the 49th best state for someone to find a job, or the 2nd worst state. Louisiana was also among the five states with the lowest median annual income.
Over the last five years, Louisiana's economy has stagnated, at the start of quarter 3 2018 the real gross GPD of Louisiana was $301.3 billion and at the start of quarter three 2023, it had dropped to $294.8 billion.
In November of 2019, the unemployment rate in Louisiana was 4.8% compared to the same statistic in 2023 at 3.5%.
It's been no secret that Louisiana's economy has struggled, even with Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry admitting there is an oncoming fiscal crisis, pushing through a new tax reform he aims to prevent a crisis.
Despite landing among the worst states to find a job Louisiana enjoys paying less on average for monthly household costs, with residents saving nearly $2,000 per year under the national average.
Many are hopeful that the economy and job market will better with time, Dr. Saba Rasheed says "There is also a growing need for those jobs in the data and technology sectors."
