International Walking Dead Superstar Coming To Shreveport In 2024

Shreveport's comic con, Geek'd Con, is coming back to Downtown Shreveport this August. The 2024 Geek'd Con will take place August 16th, 17th, and 18th, at the Shreveport Convention Center.

This year's event will feature an international superstar, as British actor David Morrissey will be coming to Shreveport.

David Morrissey is an actor and filmmaker, probably best known as for his iconic portrayal of The Governor in The Walking Dead television series. His portrayal of The Governor regularly ranks as one of the most iconic villains in television history. His performance was even ranked #28 on TV Guide's list of 'The 60 Nastiest Villains of All Time'. He was also nominated for a Saturn Award for his work in the role.

But he's not always a bad guy, at one point he took a (sorta) turn as the legendary hero Doctor Who! Well, kinda. In one of the greatest episodes in Doctor Who history, "The Next Doctor", David played the role of Jackson Lake. Without spoiling it too much, Morrissey gets to play "The Doctor" for the episode.

Let also take a moment to point out that David played a major role in a big budget Shreveport-produced film as well. A Louisiana-based horror filmed called The Reaping was filmed across Louisiana in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, with stars like Hillary Swank, Idris Elba, William Ragsdale, and of course, David Morrissey. The production included filming in the Shreveport area. The movie was released in 2007, and still has a cult film following.

David Morrissey is also known for his roles in State of Play, The Deal, Britannia, Extant, Basic Instinct 2, and many, many more!
