Caddo Coroner Names Shreveport’s 74th Homicide Victim of 2023

A man shot and mortally wounded in Shreveport's Caddo Heights neighborhood early Saturday, December 23, 2023, has been named by the Caddo Parish Coroner's office.

Patrick Shaw Jr., 29, of Shreveport, was shot outside a residence in the 1500 block of Oakdale Street just after 1:45 a.m. He was transported to Ochsner LSU Health hospital where he succumbed to his wound at 2:13 a.m.

Mr. Shaw was positively identified through fingerprint comparison.

Investigation of the slaying, the 79th homicide of 2023 in Caddo Parish and the 74th inside the Shreveport city limits, continues by the Shreveport Police Department. Further inquiries should be made to that agency.

An autopsy was ordered.
