Shreveport Police Make Arrest in Mansfield Road Murder
SHREVEPORT, LA- Shreveport police make an arrest in a Mansfield Road homicide.
On September 2nd, 2023, at 1:30 a.m., Shreveport Police patrol officers responded to a call of a shooting in the 9000 block of Manfield Road. Responding officers located two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. The two victims were transported to a local area hospital with life-threatening injuries. The female victim was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The other male is expected to recover.
Investigators with the Shreveport Police Violent Crimes Unit responded to the scene and began their investigation into the incident. After a thorough investigation detectives found Brandon Merritt (07/15/1996) reportedly shot the victims and fled the scene.
While on the scene, investigators were notified of a second shooting at another location where Brandon Merritt was struck by gunfire. He was transported to a local area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Detectives were able to obtain warrants for Merritt for one count of 2nd Degree Murder and one count of attempted 2nd Degree Murder. On September 8th, 2023, Merritt was booked into Shreveport City Jail.
