
Local Shelters Ready in Shreveport-Bossier as Winter Storm Rolls in
Bitterly cold temperatures will be a part of this winter blast and there is a concern for folks who are homeless in our community. Leaders are gearing up to make sure residents are safe and have a place to get out of this cold.
What Emergency Shelters Will Be Open in Bossier?
Bossier City just sent out a press release announcing 3 warming centers to assist citizens during the winter storm.
The 3 locations will be:
Stonewall Baptist Church (partnership with the American Red Cross) - 807 Eatman St.
Shady Grove Recreation Center - 3949 Wayne St.
Bossier Parish Sheriff Substation - 2510 Viking Drive.
The locations will open on Saturday and will remain open through Monday. The hours are 10 am to 4 pm, however the City says that times will be adjusted based on the need and demand.
What Emergency Shelters Will Be Open in Shreveport?
The are the overnight shelters in the area:
Shreveport Bossier Rescue Mission - Emergency shelter for men, women, and families; food, clothing, and support services.
The Salvation Army of NWLA - Shelter and support services (often includes emergency beds, especially for men).
Volunteers of America Veterans Services - Safe Haven emergency shelter for veterans experiencing homelessness (referral required).
Providence House - Shelter and services for women and children.
These shelters will be offering beds, food and other services for folks who need immediate help.

What Local Agencies Will Offer Services
Hope Connections - 2350 Levy Street - Will offer meals, showers, charging stations, laundry room and referrals for other help.
Holy Cross Hope House - 762 Austin Place - Day-time support services including meals, showers, clothing, and more.
The Lovewell Center - 605 Cotton Street - Day-time shelter and support services (meals, basic resources).
Christian Services - 2346 Levy Street - Assists with meals and supportive services.
These are great spots for meals, resources, case management, showers, mail services, and connections to housing and shelter placement systems (important first steps if emergency beds are full):
Caddo Parish leaders also want to let people know the Highland Center at 520 Olive Street will be open as a Community Lighthouse from 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM | Saturday - Tuesday
They will provide:
-Backup power for warmth, phone charging, & medical equipment charging
-Backup water for household needs
-Blankets, snacks, and bottled water provided by the American Red Cross
The North Louisiana Interfaith partners at Morning Star Baptist Church at 5340 Jewella will offer the same resources and hours starting Sunday.
