Shreveport First Responders Rescue One Victim from The Rising Flood Waters and Recovers Another Ones Body After Being Submerged by Flood Waters in the Ingleside Community

A major thunderstorm moved through the Shreveport Bossier area Friday afternoon into Saturday, leaving hundreds in the area with out power.   Unfortunately, one person lost their life due to flooding on Hearne Ave at Midway.

Shreveport Fire Department was dispatched to Hearne Avenue and Midway Avenue in the Ingleside Community at 5:35p.m. during Saturday’s torrential rains for a vehicle trapped by flood waters underneath the Union Pacific Railway Bridge. First Responders arrived on scene at 5:43 p.m. and found a submerged vehicle with two victims trapped by the rising flood waters.

Shreveport Fire Fighters along with Shreveport Police Officers entered the water to attempt a rescue. First Responders were able to rescue and bring to safety, one adult male who was checked out by Shreveport Fire Paramedics on scene but due to the rising and fast-moving waters the second male victim briefly surfaced and then went under and sadly never resurfaced. Shreveport Fire and Police officers attempted to locate the victim but had to be rescued from the waters themselves due to the rising and swift current.

First Responders remained on scene throughout the evening into the overnight hours searching and as the waters receded, fire fighters were able to locate the male victim Sunday at 2:43 a.m. The Caddo Corners Office was notified by Shreveport Police.
