On Monday February 3, 2025 at 6:59 p.m. Shreveport Fire Department was called to a commercial building fire in the 500 block of W. 70th Street. Engine 9 arrived on scene within 3 minutes and reported heavy smoke and flames to the roof of the structure.

Engine 9 was able to gain access to the building. The fire was located in the roof and attic area of the building. It took the efforts of 12 fire units and 36 firefighters to bring the fire under control with the use of aerial streams directed from ladder trucks before making entry into the attic space for an interior attack.

One employee was able to escape firefighters and assisted crews with gaining entry to the structure.

There were no reported injuries to citizens or firefighters. The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time by Shreveport Fire Arson Investigators.
