Shreveport’s Old CVS Makes Way for a Bigger Chick-fil-A
The busy restaurant scene in southeast Shreveport will be changing soon. Demolition crews have started work to tear down the old CVS Pharmacy store at the corner of Youree Drive and 70th Street.
The Chick-fil-A restaurant will be relocating to this spot later this year. This corner lot will give more room for the busy drive up business that is typically done at the popular chicken restaurant. The news store will have much more room for parking and traffic.
This site is being cleared to make way for a larger, more modernized Chick-fil-A. The current location next door to this site often has long lines with traffic jams in the area.
A Fresh Start at a Familiar Corner
The demolition of the old CVS building signals a new chapter for that busy intersection. It will be able to accommodate higher-volume traffic and be much more efficient for patrons.
Local residents have long called for a solution to the traffic "bottleneck" near the current restaurant. The new site offers significantly more acreage, allowing for multiple drive-thru lanes and better entry/exit points to keep traffic moving smoothly on one of Shreveport's most traveled roads.

Construction Timeline: What to Expect
While demolition is the most visible sign of progress, fans of the "Original Chicken Sandwich" will need to exercise a bit of patience.
Demolition and Site Prep: Expected to wrap up within the coming weeks.
Construction Duration: Typical Chick-fil-A rebuilds or new-site constructions generally take six to eight months once the foundation is poured.
Target Opening: If work continues at its current pace without significant weather delays, Shreveport could see the grand opening of the new 70th and Youree location by late 2026.
The current Chick-fil-A will remain open on Youree Drive until the new site is ready to go.
