Reddit Users Rank Their Favorite Horror Movies Set in New Orleans
Fans of horror movies aren't generally shy about sharing their opinions on films. So whenever you go to an online community of horror movies fans and ask for recommendations, you're probably going to get some solid answers.
Inside Reddit's horror movie community, users were asked what their favorite horror movies based in New Orleans were. Their answers didn't disappoint. Especially for Louisiana residents.
This is a different question than asking about horror movies film inside New Orleans, but movies based in New Orleans. There are plenty of great horror movies filmed in New Orleans (and the rest of Louisiana) that aren't actually based in the state story wise. So this is a very specific distinction.
These rankings are also based just on movies, not TV shows. So something like American Horror Story: Coven, that would normally make a list like this, is left off. But some other movies that normally get referenced in lists like this were totally left off. Two staples that didn't get any love were Cat People (the 1982 one) and Dracula 2000. In fact, Dracula 2000 did get mentioned, but to say specifically that it shouldn't be on the list.
Son of Dracula and The Unholy are other movies that have New Orleans (and other parts of Louisiana) as settings that didn't make the list. But they also didn't get mentioned as movies that shouldn't be considered, they were just left off.
So if you're looking for a little New Orleans seasoning in your horror movie tonight, try one of these 13 movies that Reddit horror movie fans suggest...
