Bossier City Mayor Tommy Chandler holds a monthly Prayer Luncheon where he invites speakers to address the attendees with an inspirational message.  Last Tuesday new Supreme Court Justice Jay McCallum was this month's scheduled speaker.  But, in addition to Justice McCallum, Mayor Chandler also had a surprise up his sleeve.

Justice McCallum did speak at the luncheon, in fact he delivered a very entertaining, inspirational message.  But before he spoke, the surprise guest, Speaker of the House, Louisiana Congressman Mike Johnson got up and shared a few words with the crowded room.

Here's How Louisiana Congressman Mike Johnson Became US President

One thing that the Speaker told the crowd was how he was officially the United States President... for about 37 seconds.  Speaker Johnson told KEEL News the story Wednesday morning.

It's a true story, true story.  On inauguration day, at noon under our Constitutional system the President ceased to be the President.  So Joe Biden was no longer the President at noon on inauguration day.  We were running a little bit behind on the schedule and (Vice-President elect) JD Vance did not take his oath of office, he was about 37 seconds late.

So I just want ya'll to know, for that brief moment in time, I was the acting President of the United States. The Speaker of the House is second in line, so it fell to me.

Speaker Johnson does have a few regrets about his brief term as US President.

I'm just sorry that I didn't have executive orders ready to fly.  I would've been throwing them on the stage... I would've done great things for the state of Louisiana in that 37 seconds had I known.

Louisiana Congressman Mike Johnson has been serving at the Speaker of the House of Representatives since 2023.  So who knows... that might not be his last term as President of the United States.
