Bonus SNAP Funds Headed to 8 North Louisiana Parishes
Families across North and Central Louisiana are still cleaning up from the late January ice storm, and some help is about to hit EBT cards. The Governor’s Office says SNAP households in eight parishes will automatically receive extra benefits as part of the state and federal response tied to the winter weather event.
Which Louisiana Parishes are Included
The additional SNAP benefits apply to recipients living in:
- Caldwell
- DeSoto
- East Carroll
- Jackson
- Ouachita
- Red River
- Richland
- West Carroll
How Much Extra and When it Arrives
Eligible households will receive an additional 20% of their January SNAP benefits, and it will be loaded automatically. No extra application is required for the supplement itself.
The state estimates the boost will reach about 51,500 people, with the extra funds added to EBT cards by February 11.

For families trying to restock after spoiled groceries, that timing matters. A lot of folks lost food during extended power outages, and replacing basics gets expensive fast, especially when you are already stretching every dollar between paychecks.
Small Business Help is Also on the Table
The Governor’s Office also pointed businesses toward SBA disaster loans as a recovery option following the storm. The announcement notes the disaster declaration covers a wider area than the SNAP supplement list, reaching across multiple parishes in northeast Louisiana and extending west toward the I-20 corridor.
What to do if You are a SNAP Household in the Affected Areas
If you live in one of the eight parishes and receive SNAP, keep an eye on your EBT balance around February 11. If you do not see the added amount after that date, the safest next step is to contact your program office with your case information ready so they can verify eligibility and posting status.
