The Krewe of Centaur has a long-standing tradition of bringing massive star power to Shreveport, while also honoring local legends, during the Mardi Gras season. Since its inception, the organization has selected a wide variety of local and national heroes to lead the massive Krewe of Centaur parade...and it has become a massive part of the Mardi Gras season in North Louisiana.

Selecting a Grand Marshal is about more than just finding a famous face. The Krewe looks for individuals who embody the spirit of the community, or have achieved greatness in their respective fields. Its an annual tradition that revelers look forward to during every parade season.

From Sports Icons to Screen Stars

Over the years, the list of Grand Marshals has featured a diverse roster of talent. From professional athletes with deep local roots, to Hollywood actors and musicians...the variety keeps the community guessing every single year. Including last year's Grand Marshal, Shreveport native and national sportscaster, Tim Brando. Someone who embodies both the local aspect of the Krewe, along with the national recognition for the Grand Marshal role.

These individuals serve as the face of the parade, riding the lead float and tossing the first beads to the thousands of fans lining the route. It is a position of high honor within the Krewe...and a role that carries significant weight in the history of the city's celebrations.

A Tradition of Excellence in North Louisiana

The Krewe of Centaur remains the largest Mardi Gras Krewe in North Louisiana, currently boasting a membership of over 800 people. Centaur is the only Super Krewe in North Louisiana.

As the 2026 season approaches, the focus remains on celebrating these leaders who help promote the Krewe’s mission of community building. This year's Grand Marshal will be NBA legend, Basketball Hall of Fame member, and Shreveport native Robert Parish. He's a worldwide superstar, and a local hero. Literally a perfect Grand Marshal for the Krewe of Centaur.
