First Look at New Dome Structure in Downtown Shreveport
SHREVEPORT, LA - Downtown Shreveport will be booming this coming week as the Humor and Harmony Festival rolls into town.
Later this week Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson is bringing this massive event to our community. The events include music and comedy shows, a car show, a celebrity basketball game, a fitness fest and much more.
Final preparations for the events have been going on all weekend.
These crews have been prepping the site and getting the property ready for the big dome.
And now the G-Dome structure is up in downtown Shreveport. Crews have been working to get it in place for several days.
There will be plenty of security on hand to make sure the event is safe.
Crews will continue to work this week to get the sight ready.
New high tech cameras have been installed all around the site and they will be connected to the real time crime center so police can keep an eye on what's going on.
Crews are putting the finishing touches on the dome to get it ready for the festival which kicks off on Thursday.
This G-Dome structure is located on at Spring and Travis Street.
Commerce Street and a few other downtown streets will be closed during these events.
You can see some of the new high tech cameras mounted on light poles throughout downtown Shreveport.
I did see a large sticker at the dome which said no photography and I wonder if that will be the rule for those attending the events in the dome.
The G-Dome will be the sight for a big after party Friday night featuring celebrities and much more. This looks to be a high dollar event with some of the tickets selling for $750 bucks.
The G-Dome is listed as the "Official After Party venue for the Humor & Harmony Weekend."
The event site says this will be a place "for everyone to gather in Downtown Shreveport to enjoy good vibes, music, dancing, live performances and craft cocktails featuring some of 50’s favorite recipes.
This venue is only for folks who are 21 and up. The site says no bags will be allowed inside the venue and only clear purses will be allowed.
For folks who did not get tickets to see the Thursday night Big Bowl Comedy Show at Shreveport Municipal Auditorium, you can buy a $20 ticket and watch the live simulcast of this show inside the G-Dome.
This entire festival runs through Sunday with the big finale Sunday night. 50 Cent along with Lorenz Tate will be hosting and All White Finale Party at the G-Dome beginning at 7pm Sunday night.
