Shreveport Man Arrested on Gun and Drug Charges

Yesterday morning, SPD Officers responded to report from a citizen that a man was passed out in the driver’s seat of a vehicle on Louisiana Ave.

When officers arrived at the scene, they approached the car and immediately spotted a gun on the center console.

The driver, 38-year-old David Bayless, woke up and grabbed the gun in an attempt to hide it. Officers worked fast and detained him before things could escalate.

A search of the vehicle bye Shreveport Patrol Officers turned up marijuana residue in the driver’s seat, ecstasy pills, two glass pipes with burnt residue, and a bag of meth in the glove compartment.

Bayless was also found to be a convicted felon, meaning he shouldn’t have a firearm at all.

Bayless was arrested and booked into the Shreveport City Jail on multiple felony drug and firearm charges.
