Nation’s Top Fast Food Restaurant Missing in Louisiana

You might be surprised to learn which ones are the favorites across the country. But this latest data shows the spot that's been at the top has been bumped off of that pedestal for this year.

USA Today has published a report on the top fast food eateries in the country. Chick-fil-A was #1 last year. But we have a new top dog. Chick-fil-A falls to 3rd on the list. Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) is #2 on the list.

Which Restaurant Wins the Top Spot?

The winner is a spot you can't even find in Louisiana. In fact, they don't operate in Texas. Del Taco has locations in only 18 states, but this Mexican fast food spot is the most popular in the country.

The USA Today report says this is a surprise upset in the fast food arena.

Del Taco is well known for its tacos, burritos, house made guacamole, quesadillas, nachos and much more. You can also grab a burger at Del Taco.

You might wonder why this list does not include places like McDonald's or Burger King, two of the biggest chains in the country. Well this list was primarily based on quality of the food. It seems folks don't rate the food from these two spots that high.

Del Taco is planning more expansion. They once did have some Texas stores, but all of them have since closed. There is a plan to go back to Texas. Del Taco has also opened one restaurant in Mississippi. They are beginning an effort to increase locations across the southeast. Florida is a top priority for the company.
