This week, 59 people were booked and kept at Caddo Correctional Center.
Among those booked in CCC is a man who barricaded himself in a car after being stopped by police.
On January 15 at 7:06 AM, the Vivian Police Department noticed a light-colored SUV parked in the northbound lane of the 1000 block of South Pines Road (LA Highway 1). When an officer approached the vehicle, the driver refused to exit. The officer also reported that the individual threatened to harm himself.
The Vivian Police Department requested assistance from the Caddo Sheriff's Office. Patrol deputies from the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office arrived at the scene, took control of the situation, and successfully convinced the male suspect, Dameon Demarcus Smith, 34, to exit the vehicle without incident. The suspect received on-site treatment from the Caddo Parish Fire Department and was then released to the deputies.
The deputies transported Smith to Ochsner/LSU Health Hospital at 1501 Kings Highway in Shreveport, LA, for evaluation. After his release from the hospital, Smith was taken to the Caddo Correctional Center, where he was booked for Aggravated obstruction of a highway of commerce.
Another booked in to CCC is a fugitive who was found with illegal weapons.
On January 14, 2025, at approximately 1:41 PM, members of the Shreveport Police Department’s Warrants Unit and the Shreveport City Marshal’s Office executed an arrest warrant at 3121 Ashton Street.
While searching the residence for the fugitive, officers observed a modified shotgun in plain view. Recognizing the potential for additional illegal firearms, the Violent Crimes Abatement Team (VCAT) was contacted for assistance.
Upon arrival, VCAT members conducted a thorough search and located a stolen 9mm automatic weapon in the living room. Subsequent interviews led to the arrest of Jason Montgomery (DOB: 04/05/2001). After further investigation, the firearm was confirmed to be stolen and illegally modified to function as a fully automatic weapon.
Montgomery was charged with the following offenses:
· Handling and Possessing a Machinegun
· Possession of a Stolen Firearm
The Shreveport Police Department remains committed to removing illegal firearms from our streets and enhancing public safety. This arrest is part of an ongoing effort in 2025 to address violent crime and the proliferation of illegal weapons.
Some of those pictured below have yet to stand trial and are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
