This week, 54 people were booked and kept at Caddo Correctional Center.
Among those booked, this man was put behind bars for molesting a 14 year old.
Shreveport Police Department Sex Crimes detectives have arrested Thamarsai Jemon Caldwell in connection with a molestation case involving a juvenile victim.
The investigation began in June 2024 when detectives received a report of molestation from an 14-year-old victim. The victim disclosed to her mother that she had been sexually assaulted by a man several years earlier. SPD detectives interviewed the victim and her mother, obtaining crucial details about the incident.
Over the course of several months, investigators worked diligently to identify the suspect. Despite initial challenges in determining the offender’s legal name, detectives uncovered critical information in November 2024 that led to identifying Caldwell as the perpetrator.
On December 1, 2024, a warrant was issued for Caldwell's arrest on the following charges:
· One count of Molestation of a Juvenile (La. R.S. 14:81.2)
· One count of Sexual Battery (La. R.S. 14:43.1)
Today, Caldwell was taken into custody by SPD detectives without incident. “This arrest demonstrates the unwavering commitment of our Sex Crimes Unit to seeking justice for victims, particularly those who are among the most vulnerable in our community,” said Chief Wayne Smith. “Our detectives exemplify the relentless pursuit of justice, ensuring that perpetrators of such crimes are held accountable.”
The Shreveport Police Department urges anyone with information regarding crimes against children to contact SPD at (318) 673-7300 or submit tips anonymously through Crime Stoppers
Also, among those booked was this man who was arrested for beating a child with a belt and strangling her.
On October 11, 2024, at approximately 12:30 PM, Shreveport Police Department juvenile detectives responded to a residence on the 600 block of Darinda Lane for a reported assault and battery. Upon arrival, detectives discovered that a 15-year-old victim had sustained multiple bruises and welts from being struck with a belt by her father, Allen Pennington.
The investigation revealed that Pennington became angry, restrained the victim, and struck her repeatedly. During the assault, the victim reported that Pennington placed his hand across her throat, causing her to struggle for breath while he continued to strike her.
Following a thorough investigation, an arrest warrant was issued for Pennington. On December 3, 2024, he was taken into custody by the SPD Warrants Unit and charged with felony offenses related to the assault.
The Shreveport Police Department reminds the public that while discipline is an important part of a child's development, any form of discipline that is administered in anger, involves unreasonable pain or suffering, or places a child in danger is illegal and will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
All those pictured are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
