
Bossier City Man Arrested for Illegal Firearms Trafficking
The Shreveport Police Department's Violent Crimes Abatement Team (VCAT) opened an investigation into Dakota Barnhouse (date of birth 06/28/1991) regarding illegal firearms trafficking. VCAT members located Barnhouse’s whereabouts in Bossier City and obtained a search warrant for a residence in the area.
On October 4, 2024, at approximately 8:30 AM, VCAT members, with the assistance of Bossier Police Department’s Narcotics Unit and the United States Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), executed the search warrant. Barnhouse was taken into custody, and officers recovered seven firearms, 300 doses of Xanax, and body armor. Some of the firearms were determined to be stolen.
Barnhouse has been charged with the following:
· Possession of a stolen weapon
· Possession of Schedule I, Schedule II, and Schedule IV narcotics
· Illegal use of a weapon with a controlled dangerous substance
· Unlawful possession of body armor
The investigation into this case is ongoing. The Shreveport Police Department extends its gratitude to the Bossier City Police Department and the ATF for their teamwork and assistance in this operation, as SPD remains committed to working with law enforcement partners to remove illegal firearms from the streets.
