Tempers Flare at Bossier Charter Commission Meeting
SHREVEPORT, LA - Things are not getting any better with the Bossier City Charter Commission. A meeting Monday night devolved into name calling and allegations of ethics violations.
Early on during the meeting, two members, Shane Cheatham and David Johnson walked out of the session. This came after heated discussions about political maneuvering. Dozens of residents showed up at the meeting to voice concerns about the delay tactics in getting the term limits issue to the voters.
You can listen here to a part of the meeting when things got heated.
A new petition has been filed and certified calling for this matter to be placed on the ballot in December. But some are concerned the Bossier City Council might drag its feet in making this happen. The underlying issue is that if the matter is not decided by the end of this year, qualifying for new terms is set to happen in the spring. If term limits are not imposed, current Council members could run again.
